ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

I believe people have the capacity to heal and change, sometimes we just need a little support to do so. Through an integrative approach, I help clients identify their strengths and explore their emotional and behavioral patterns so they are able to realize their full potential. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the core of therapy and is essential for change and growth. My practice style is warm and empathic, and I truly enjoy getting to know my clients.

I specialize in working with adolescents, young adults, and women during the perinatal period.  Interestingly, I find these time periods in life to have much in common, particularly the emphasis on transition and change.  All of these periods of life can be filled with joy, fun, and excitement as well as anxiety, uncertainty, and sadness.  I enjoy helping clients recognize these mixed feelings that can arise and work together to get through whatever challenges they face.

I have extensive training and expertise in women's mental health with a focus on perinatal and reproductive concerns. Whether you are struggling with infertility, anxiety or depression during pregnancy, or postpartum anxiety or depression, I work with women to understand what they are experiencing and work together in developing insight and coping tools. It is a joy to help women through this life transition.

I also have over 10 years of experience working with adolescents, college-aged students, and young adults in various settings.  Having worked in both a high school as a counselor and in a college counseling center as a therapist, I have gained a great deal of insight and experience in these unique developmental stages and am up to date with the various stressors these particular groups experience, including anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and academic struggles.  I find it rewarding to help teens and young adults navigate these sometimes challenging times.

Clients have described me as warm, empathic, direct, and that I have a good sense of humor.  It can feel overwhelming to find the right therapist.  My goal in our first session is to determine if we are a good fit.  I look forward to hearing from you.

I have extensive training and experience in treating women in the perinatal period.  Whether you are struggling with a Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder or are having difficulty transitioning to parenthood, therapy can help, and I am honored to help in your journey.

Relationship Issues

Relationships, from family dynamics, romantic relationships, and friendships can be both rewarding and challenging.  I enjoy helping clients explore their patterns and develop healthy boundaries in relationships so they can feel fulfilled and happy.

Infertility

We are often told that once we are ready to become parents, it will just happen.  Unfortunately, for 1 in 8 couples, that isn't the case.  This can feel lonely, isolating, and sad.  I enjoy working with women and couples in their fertility journey and to help them navigate this stressful experience.

Adolescents, Young Adults, and Adults

I have expertise in treating adolescents, young adults, and adults.  I truly enjoy these stages of life and find it to be very rewarding to help clients navigate the joys and challenges that come with these life stages.

Anxiety

In our ever changing and highly demanding world, anxiety can feel inevitable.  It is my job, however, to help you learn where you anxiety is rooted, how to cope with it, and ultimately, to reduce it's severity and intensity.  Through cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness, I have helped countless clients take control over their anxiety and live happy and fulfilling lives.

Depression

Depression can feel hopeless and lonely, but it doesn't have to.  Through cognitive behavioral therapy and practices of mindfulness, I help clients gain perspective, find what brings them joy, and learn to cope with feelings of Depression.
